Whakamihi: Hapii
There are so many extraordinary local Māori businesses and we intend to profile as many as possible.
Award-winning Hapī is an exceptional example of a business that lives its values and gives nourishment to our community through their kai (food) and service.
When we considered who to approach to do the food for our launch event our first choice was Gretta Carney and her team at Hapī. Wholesome, flavoursome and able to offer us something so familiar, curating our menu to feature a delicious Māori twist.
Located on Hastings Street in Napier, adjoining Chantal Shop they carried out the move to this bigger site in the midst of the Covid pandemic. Showing faith and resilience in their business and their community of customers. We visit regularly, for work and pleasure and it is never empty. It ebbs and flows through morning coffee runs, business breakfasts, lunchtime regulars and a relaxed afternoon vibe.
In their own words, here is how they describe who they are and what they do.
He kai he rongoā, he rongoā he kai.
Hapi is a way of living that celebrates diversity in eating styles and we believe everything you eat should taste and feel delicious.
Our food is our medicine, our medicine is our food.We produce integrity dense kai that caters to gluten free, dairy free, cane-sugar free, vegan, paleo and organic diets.
They take orders via their webstore, contactless coffee pickups through the Regulr app or text/phone option (027 372 5112).
